Letters to the Webmaster

Here's a letter from a disgruntled
Bank One customer named Wes:

Dear Webmaster,

Help! I'm desperately trying to get off ChexSystems. I contested a debt with Bank One, and they reported me with no response to my complaint. Do you have any contact info for Bank One? Their "Demand Deposit Risk Management Center" is no help whatsoever. They say that, sure, I can pay them, and they will send me a letter to that effect, but the report remains for 5 years. This is [unfair], as no north Texas bank (nor any Internet bank, including their subsidiary, WingspanBank.com, whom I'd like to use, considering you can the use BOne's ATMs for free, and their network is very large in this area) will accept a letter of this kind. Only a clean report works....

Thanks!
Wes

Dear Wes,

Thanks for your questions. Here are a couple of ideas:

1) Check the website which has a link to some ChexSystems contact info. With this, you can dispute the report through them, they will contact your bank. Word is, if the bank does not respond within 30 days, Chex is required to remove you from the list.

2) Unfortunately, it is incredibly difficult to find contact info for Bank One. Also, contacting them has the possibility to accomplish something only if the bank is at fault. Then, you still need proof. If you do need to contact Bank One, I would suggest going directly into a main branch (not the grocery store branch) and asking for the branch manager. Tell them your situation, and by all means, BE CALM!! Yelling and cussing at them will only get you in worse shape.

3) If you pay the bank what is owed to them, they are required to remove you from the ChexSystems database, unless they get angry and find something else to tag you with (see "Joel's Story").

I hope part of this helps!

 Sincerely,

 The Webmaster
